Set
out in front of a local Stop n Shop and collected various items and
donations for the Save A Pet Organization.
Sue at Save-A-Pet was speechless when
we she saw what you all raised yesterday in supplies and $$. We had
so many bags of donated items that we partially blocked the front
hallway of their building. On top of the supplies, you all raised
over $150. The loose change was donated especially towards surgery
for a rottweiler named Penny who was hit by a car on Sunrise Hwy and
is now undergoing expensive treatment. The rest of the money will
help pay for food and shelter for all other cats, dogs and rabbits
that are being cared for while they await homes. Sue said that you
have no idea how much it means to them to have people do things like
this for them If you're ever in the area, please stop by it's a
pretty neat place (and they just got a big litter of puppies in
yesterday - OMG are they cute!). She asked all about the Bandits
and she said you're all awesome and thank you.

09-06 12U Black and 12U
White recognized for their support in annual fundraiser
Your Bandits team had no
connection to Breezy or her Deer Park team but both years you have
gone above and beyond the call to help. In the cynical world
we live in, it is so nice to find people who reach out to help
others. I am very impressed with your organization. Should my
daughter ever decide to go to an outside independent team, I would
love for her to become a bandit. The people I have met all
seem to have the same morals and values that I try to instill in my
children - not easy to find in the cut throat, win at all costs
mentality of softball (or any sport for that matter).
So
many thanks to you and the other bandit families who donated all the
raffle prizes. Your kindness was truly appreciated.

The
Long Island Bandits 12U team visited the Sunrise Assisted Living adult
home in Babylon, NY on January 21, 2006. The team received a warm
welcome as they visited for about an hour. The girls performed a
number of softball cheers. The players then met with the residents.
During their stay the players shared softball stories and showed
team pictures. Autographed softballs were then handed out by the
players to all those who attended.
Those in the audience had numerous questions about the team
and the players. Many of the residents shared softball stories of
their own. This upcoming season the facility is hoping to take a group
trip to one of the team's local games. |

The Bandits made new friends
recently. The girls help a clothing drive for a foster family on Long
Island. The girls then brought clothing, shoes books and games to the
family and had some fun with the their new friends. |
